USB Activity Monitoring-Server Module Continued...
Offline Monitoring
USB Activity Monitoring Software facilitates Offline Monitoring i.e. tracking the USB storage device activities on client computer system at the time when network is disconnected. During offline monitoring the client system can be monitored under following cases:
When client server connectivity is lost:
The USB activities on the client’s machine can be easily monitored by USB activity monitoring software even in case when network cable is unplugged from the client’s system.
When USB Activity Monitor-server module is not started on server machine:
The software can accurately track the insertion and removal activities of USB storage devices from client’s machine when network is connected but the software is not started on server machine.
In Offline Monitoring the user deals with following:
Device Tracking Process
USB Activity Monitoring for Windows Network starts automatically when software runs and is responsible for tracking the USB storage device detection and removal status even if the network is disconnected.
If any kind of USB media storage device is inserted or removed from any of the client machine, the removable drive monitoring software will capture entire USB drive activity details and displays the same in “Real time USB drive status over network machines” Panel whenever the network gets disconnected, as shown in the figure.
USB drive status will include following details:
- USB drive Status i.e. Detected or Removed or both.
- Client PC’s Name and IP Address along with Date and Time.
- USB Drive Name, hardware ID and device capacity.
- Date and Time when information is received to the server.
- Contains information of Multiple Logical Drives.
Sound Notification: A Sound Notification Check Box is provided for playing a sound beep whenever the USB drive is detected or removed from the client’s system.
Offline Monitoring Log
Offline monitoring log is useful for recording the insertion and removal status of USB storage device when the network is disconnected.
The details of USB drive’s offline status will be automatically recorded in a log file and displayed whenever the network connection gets unplugged. User can see the recorded log file by clicking “View Log” button.
The administrator can easily delete the previously recorded log details by clicking on the “Clear Log” button.
Detailed USB drive’s recorded status will be automatically saved in HTML format at installed location of software with the name RealUSBLog.htm.
The log file contains following details:
- USB drive Status i.e. Detected or Removed or both.
- Client PC’s Name and IP Address along with Date and Time.
- USB Drive Name, hardware ID and device capacity.
